Students, parents and teachers
While we unable to host visitors during the Covid 19 shutdown we took the opportunity to look at ways of bringing camp to you. This section links to some activities and strategies we think would be suited to your environment and develop the same skills and capability as being at camp.
The activities and ideas reflect our learning and teaching. They will entertain, educate, and breakdown barriers. Along with the games and activities you will find hints and tips on building learning value from discussions and some ideas for building empathy with people around you. You can use items in isolation or build on the skills as we add more each week.
To help illustrate our activities and information we have used our Lego™ visitors.
The activities we have selected are brief, flexible, require little more than a willingness to do something different and some basic resources. Our mission was to put some ideas and activities together that would work in a ten minute break, provide some entertainment and help in getting to know the people around you.
Much of the learning that our visitors build from their camp experiences is developed in the debrief. A debrief at camp is a conversation with a purpose around an experience or event. Combining strategies from a range of resources our debriefs aim to get maximum involvement and promote learning.
Some ideas, resources and activities that we found interesting and worth sharing. Some will challenge, some will entertain and some will just be interesting. There are some astronomy related activities in this section that will give students an excuse to look at the night sky.
